Today Zach got to be on the receiving end of our mailing a letter lesson. In all honesty, this letter may have come yesterday, but Mommy didn’t check the mail. So, we’ll just call it “today” so as not to confuse the two-year old.
After a long day of running errands (one of which was going to the post office!), we came home to check the mail. Zach’s little letter that we mailed out on Friday was waiting in the box for us. He was pretty excited, though probably more about getting to come downstairs to check the mail in the first place than the letter itself.
We marched back upstairs and I let him open his letter. I asked him if her remembered mailing the letter. He said, “mailbox”, so I’m taking that as a yes. Then I told him the mailman took our letter from the mailbox and delivered it to us. And wasn’t that exciting? He said, “mailbox”, so, again, I’m taking that as a yes.
What did Zach learn today? That we send AND receive mail. And from now until he gets his first bill, that getting the mail is pretty fun.
What did Mommy learn today? That mommy’s who take 3 kids to the post office without losing one or more of them deserve special rewards.
Yes, real mail is very fun – always more fun than a bill.
